Thenks so much for so much
great info. I am visiting to first find out about allergy
issues - one I did not see answered is to what extent people
with cat allergies are allergic to dogs. That is our
situation. Also, we never had a dog before so want to learn.
We have a daughter who will soon be 10 and it would be her
pet. Finally, would really like to get a shelter animal if
at all possible rather than from breeder because of pet
overpopulation. |

Standards
Thursday, July 27th 2006 - 05:36:34 PM
FCI:
The FCI Poodle standard currently posted at the FCI site
lists the Poodle sizes as Large, Medium, Miniature, and Toy.
The country of origin in the standard is listed as France.
See the FCI standard at http://www.fci.be/uploaded_files/172gb99_en.doc
AKC:
The AKC Poodle standard lists the sizes as Standard,
Miniature, and Toy. According to AKC, Poodle supposedly
originated in Germany, but has been the national dog of
France for years. See AKC Poodle pages at http://www.akc.org/breeds/poodle/ |

I was reading the
information you have on the Poodle. I feel that you were mis-informed.
The poodle originated in GERMANY not France and there is no
such thing as a "medium" poodle, rather the categories are:
Toy, miniature and STANDARD poodle (with the latter being no
LESS than 15 inches at the whithers). I hope you will find
this information useful as it could be mis-leading to those
searching for information on the breed. Thank you. Sandra

We have a toy Rat Terrier
and have enjoyed your web site greatly! There was so much
info that we found about our beloved terrier. I couldn't
live with out him now! His name is Gizmo for obvious
reasons. Look at those ears! |

your site is very helpful. i
just got an AHT and me and my boyfriend doesn't know
anything about the breed. dotty is actually super sweet.
fortunately for me she doesn't chew on anything so the toys
i bought are useless. they are very loving dogs, she even
sleeps under the covers with me. i never had a problem house
training her and i live in an apartment. my only problem is
her barking when i leave her. nobody complained yet so i
guess she's not that loud. thanks again! |

I love German Shepherds very
much, but unfortuanetely, I live in a condo where they don't
allow dogs. If I move to a house I will definetelly get one.
I understand the responsibbility and care that I have to
give to a dog. I think it is wonderful that this site has
been made. |

Like your site, all infos
great and layouts easy on the eyes. I`ve a soon to be 5month
old bolognese and I`ve been thinking bout getting another
dog when he`s older and AHT is one of the breeds I`m
thinking bout... But that`s then when he`s grown up. ;)
And you who asked about bichons nose color that`s not
completely black; it can mean fealth problems but usually
it`s just a pigment flaw and not harmfull (except in
shows..) |

I found out about Irish
Water Spaniels through your website three years ago. Thank
you.
We had our IWS, Oscar, for three years. He died a week ago
from liver failure, due to a reaction to sulfamethoxazole. I
have since found out that many IWSs are allergic to sulfa
drugs and can end up with acute fatal hepatic necrosis. I am
trying to pass on the word so that no one else will have
this happen to their dog. There is information at
www.siwsc.org.uk under articles and clubs.akc.org/iwsc/health.htm.
Thanks |
